Digitech(Elavon) Instructions

Restarting the device #

This may actually solve many of the errors we see with the Digitech (Elavon) machines.

Press and hold # and the yellow key to reboot the device.

Wifi won’t connect on a MOVE 5000 device #

  • Check the following steps
  1. ComsPriority on MOVE devices should be set to 420 which means it will try WiFi (4) as the primary communication method and Ethernet (2) as the secondary
    • To Set this go into Admin -> 3 (Setup) -> 2 (Communications) -> 1 (ComsPriority)
  2. Make sure the Bluetooth is turned off
    • To Unpair/Turn Off Bluetooth go into Admin -> 3 (Setup) 2 (Communications) -> 5 (Bluetooth) -> 4 (Remove All Bases)
  3. To connect to a WiFi network
    • Go into Admin -> 3 (Setup) -> 2 (Communications) -> 3 (Wi-Fi) -> 2 (Advanced Setup) -> 1 (Networks)
    • Select the network (notice the lock symbol signifying it is a secure network)
    • Enter the WiFi password
  4. MAKE SURE THE ETHERNET CORD IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE CHARGE DOCK OR IT WILL TAKE OVER AS THE MAIN CONNECTION AND IGNORE PORT FORWARDING SETTINGS

Finding the IP and MAC Address of the Device #

Desk 5000 Device #

  1. Push the .,#* button
  2. Push 3 (Setup Menu) then 2 (Communications) then 3 or 2 (Ethernet) then 1 (Current Setup)
  3. The following will be listed here
    • Mac Address
    • IP Address
    • Other information you will not need
  4. They can then push the Red cancel button 5 times to get back to the home screen

Move 5000 device on WiFi #

  1. Push the .,#* button
  2. Push 3 (Setup Menu) then 2 (Communications) then 3 (WiFi) then 2 (Advanced Setup) then 4 (Display Params)
  3. The following will be listed here
    • WiFi Mac Address
    • WiFi IP Address
    • Other information you will not need
  4. They can then push the Red cancel button 6 times to get back to the home screen

Finding the Port the Device is Listening on #

Desk 5000 Device #

  1. Push the .,#* button
  2. Push 9 (Misc. Options) then 1 (Semi-Integrated) then 2 (Communication Type) then 3 (Ethernet)
  3. It will either say ‘Enter Device Port’ and you’ll enter 8080, or the port the device is listening on will be listed here
  • Note: If the port needs to be anything but the default 8080, digitech has to set that on their end as well…. otherwise it will be overwritten.

Move 5000 on WiFi #

  1. Push the .,#* button
  2. Push 9 (Misc. Options) then 1 (Semi-Integrated) then 2 (Communication Type) then WiFi (This may be value 1? Might be different on some pinpads)
  3. It will either say ‘Enter Device Port’ and you’ll enter 8080, or the port the device is listening on will be listed here

Performing a Refund #

  1. When a refund is started, the user must enter a supervisor password into the pin pad
    • When entering a password if it has a letter in the password, push the number with the letter on it first, then push the ‘F’ key on the bottom left until the letter you want is on the screen
  2. This should be something they have and know or someone there knows, we will not have this

Tip Settings #

  1. Push the .,#* button
  2. Push 3 (Setup Menu) then 5 (Trans Options) then 5 (Tips Options)
  3. There are quite a few menu options here as below
    1. Tip – Option to turn tips on and off, if tips are on there are 4 options for on, Suggestion is to use number 2 (Std Tip Only), you can call and ask Elavon or Digitech if you want other options
    2. Tip Guide – This is where you can set the preset percentages.
    3. Tip Auto – This is the pre-selected option.
    4. Tip Excess – A percentage that gets marked as excessive.
    5. Tip Mode – Whether you want percentage or amount to be prompted.

Receipt Setting #

  1. It is suggested that you set the option on your pin pad to let Insight print the receipts for you. If you do not have a receipt printer however the pin pad does have a printer on it you can set up. Decide where you would prefer the receipt be printed from.
  2. Push the .,#* button
  3. Push 9 (Misc. Options) then 1 (Semi-Integrated) then 3 (Receipt Options)
    1. ECR – Only Insight will print a receipt
    2. Terminal – Only the pin pad will print a receipt
    3. Both – Both print

If Cannot Connect to Cloud but Your Internet is Working #

  1. If for some reason cloud is down and you still need to run cards you can switch your terminal into the Standalone mode to run transactions
  2. To enable this Push the F1 Key on the pin pad, it will prompt you to switch to Standalone mode if you select yes you can now run transactions on the pin pad directly.
  3. To switch back, push the same F1 key to go back to TSI (Semi-Integrated Mode)
    1. When in Standalone we have found the following options
      • 1 Performs a sale
      • 2 Performs a refund

If Key Exchange Fails #

Be sure TCP ports 443 and 449 are open for communication in and out for the device.
